Black Forest Real EstateBlack Forest is located approximately 19 miles north and northeast of Colorado Springs. Upon seeing the high-density of Ponderosa Pines, a German immigrant named this town as it reminded him of the Black Forest in Germany (Schwarzwald).
This unincorporated area delivers a quality of rural life and vicinity to malls, great shopping centers, restaurants, excellent medical facilities (Penrose-St. Francis and Memorial Hospital) and acclaimed schools in District 20 and 38. Many ranchers raise everything from llamas to Arabian Horses.
At the center of town, the log cabin-style Black Forest Community Center offers a meeting and entertainment place for families in the area. The Black Rose Acoustic Society is a non-profit organization that supports and promotes traditional acoustic music and musicians. Miles of trails of Fox Park and Black Forest County Park offer unending recreation.
Black Forest residents have wide variety of homes (log cabins, contemporary suburban and upscale custom homes) on larger lots with most averaging five acres or more. Home buyers have many choices including mountain homes and horse properties as well. Some areas are heavily wooded. It is not unusual in this rural area for homeowners to see all that wildlife offers like deer, fox, raccoons & coyotes. The temperatures average is a few degrees cooler than Colorado Springs.
Some of the major neighborhoods found in Black Forest are Bridle Bit Ranch, Cathedral Pines (custom executive homes and 2.5 acre home sites), Falcon Forest, Forest Green, Green Meadow, High Forest Ranch (a private gated luxury home community), New Discovery, Pine Cone Acres, Pine Glen, Ponderosa Pines, Spirit Lakes, Wildwood Village and Woodlake.
