Powers area is home to Peterson Air Force Base, Schriever Air Force Base, Falcon School District 49 schools (east side of Powers) and the Colorado Springs School District #11 (west side of Powers). This fast growing neighborhood is located 6.5 miles NE of downtown of Colorado Springs. Powers Corridor is an attractive area with shopping centers, restaurants, retail, and commercial businesses - similar to Academy Boulevard, but more modern. Costco built its first store in Colorado Springs on Powers and Barnes. In 2008, St. Francis Medical Center opened as the only full-service hospital in NE Colorado Springs. Early this year, it was selected as one of America's 50 best hospitals for the fourth consecutive year.

In addition to the many amenities, this community also provides its residents with two 18-hole public golf courses: Cherokee Ridge and Springs Ranch. Also in 2008, Villa Sport, a CA based health club opened on the intersection of Woodmen and Powers with state-of-art exercise equipment, indoor salt water swimming pools, hot tubs, sauna, steam room, spa, and outdoor pools (one for kids with slides)! A simple paradise for kids and an oasis of peace and recreation for adults! This year another health club, Lifetime Fitness started a successful operation on Powers as well.

Neighborhoods are typically single-family planned communities that provide home purchasers with many options. The major neighborhoods found on Powers are Stetson Hills, Indigo Ranch, Ridgeview, Springs Ranch, and Cimmeron Hills. Powers is one of the busier areas for home sales each year.
